Learn more about the magic behind tango music and dance
This is an invaluable book for those interested in the origins and evolution of Argentine tango. With a clear and enjoyable narrative this work explores the captivating periods of tango history, from its initial years to modern times. Rather than a sequence of dates and names, this book examines the environment and social context that influenced the life and work of those who would become the creators and protagonists of tango.
Born at the end of the nineteenth century in lower-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and other cities at the shores of the Rio de la Plata, tango gradually metamorphosed into a passionate and elegant dance that conquered the world. There is increasing worldwide interest in tango history, however, most of the literature on the topic has been written in Spanish and is not available in English. A Brief History of a Sentiment Called Tango aims to narrow this gap..
